What does EUWAS mean?

  • EUWAS, European Waste Sector Assistant, is a one stop shop portal that offers the opportunity to gather information on the waste management field and to work with this information on a harmonised European working level.
  • The idea of EUWAS was created in autumn 2003 with the pre-existing Virtual Environmental Office (VEO) as its first structural model.
  • The project EUWAS started in January 2005 and is co-financed by the European Commission (DG Information Society, eContent), the project runs 2 years and is coordinated by a skilled team from Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
  • The product of the EUWAS project, the EUWAS portal, will stand on it's own feeds from 2007 on based on a sophisticated business strategy
  • The EUWAS vision is to expand the services to further EU member countries and to be a living portal taking into account the customer needs and the political input.
